SEN. BEN NIGHTHORSE CAMPBELL TO PRESENT
SPECIAL KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT NEW YORK GAMING SUMMIT

NEWS

LAS VEGAS (May 11, 2006) – Former U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell will be the featured keynote speaker at the Fifth Annual New York Gaming Summit, June 20-21 at the newly expanded Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls.

A staunch ally of Indian gaming, Sen. Campbell’s participation rounds out the most impressive speaker lineup ever assembled in the five-year history of this important regional event, which typically draws attendees from 10 Northeastern states and Ontario.

Campbell served in the United States Senate from 1992 to 2004 and the U.S. House from 1987 to 1992. He earned national recognition as an advocate for military veterans, law enforcement communities, artists, energy developers, motorcycle enthusiasts, universities, the beverage industry, trucking industry, and for his renowned work for Native Americans.

In January 2005, Sen. Campbell joined the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP, Government Section, as a Senior Policy Advisor working out of its Washington, D.C., office. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Indian Law Practice Group.

A Northern Cheyenne chief, he was the only American Indian in Congress. He was a leader in policy dealing with natural resources and public lands and initiated legislation to found the National Museum of the American Indian within the Smithsonian Institution. He declined running for a third term in the Senate, citing health and personal reasons, but in November 2004, hinted at a possible run for Colorado governor in 2006. A three-time U.S. judo champion, Campbell was captain of the U.S. Olympic judo team in 1964. He is also a rancher, horse trainer, and jewelry designer.

The beautiful new Seneca Niagara facility is home to the largest hotel in Western New York, with 600 rooms. It features amenities such as a full-service spa, numerous gourmet restaurants, headliner shows and entertainment, and more than 4,000 slot machines and 100 table games.
