New York Gaming Summit Returns for its Sixth Powerful Year

NEWS

LAS VEGAS (March 15, 2007) – With significant developments in gaming still to come, the sixth annual New York Gaming Summit promises to be timely when it returns to the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, June 20-21. Presented by Ascend Media Gaming Group, the Summit’s expanded conference lineup will provide an in-depth look at how gaming has progressed since New York’s landmark legislation of 2001, and what lies ahead for all industry stakeholders.

The opening session will examine New York gaming from a political perspective, which could be quite different from previous years with a new governor in office. Indeed, Gov. Eliot Spitzer has already made his mark on the gaming industry with some early-term decisions on tribal gaming and horse racing.

Tribal casinos are an important feature of the New York gaming landscape, and this year’s Summit will provide plenty of opportunities to explore hot issues. One session will provide an update on the Seneca Nation’s gaming plans including the controversial downtown Buffalo casino; another will look at the market in the Catskills, which may finally move forward with casino development after Gov. Spitzer’s agreement with the St. Regis Mohawk tribe. Finally, attendees will get a look at national issues affecting tribal gaming, and how they could impact New York.

Closing out the busy conference will be sessions on racetrack gaming and the regional gaming market. With all but one authorized racetrack now operating video gaming machines, is the state starting to realize the promises made when gaming was legalized in 2001? And how does racetrack gaming in the New York City area and further tribal casino development impact the northeast gaming market, which includes a burgeoning slot machine industry in Pennsylvania? These questions and more will be addressed in the final two sessions at the Summit.

Nearly 250 gaming executives from some 20 jurisdictions attended last year’s Summit. Industry vendors can reach these key people in the New York gaming industry and beyond by becoming a sponsor or reserving an exhibit booth in the networking area.
